Nonequilibrium processes driven by nonequilibrium reservoirs is an important yet less explored area. Here we shall discuss some results for a run-and-tumble particle (RTP) moving in a one dimensional heated channel connected to active particle reservoirs at the boundaries. This elementary setup exhibits rich behaviour: The distribution has 'kinetic boundary layers' and can be non monotonous; current is carried in absence of a density gradient, current reversal and optimisation takes place on tuning dynamical parameters only; and in particular a new 'global' transport effect, very loosely resembling a Seebeck-like effect, emerges.
