Publishing research findings is an integral part of scientist’s professional life, yet most scholarly journals are often perceived as black boxes. There are two main reasons for this perception: (1) lack of clarity in the publication process, (2) lack of editorial tips. Whereas we are in a constant process of improving the transparency, in this talk, I will mainly focus on providing editorial tips for bringing your research from the lab to a published article. Some of the questions I will address are: how to choose the right journal, quick tips for manuscript writing, the role of an editor, how you (author) can expedite the process and open science.
